Jaish Commander’s funeral: Fast-track investigation to identify people who took part, says Police

Sopore, Apr 09 : The Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday said it has initiated a fast-track bases investigation in identifying the people who attended the funeral of Jaish-e-Muhamamd commander at Sadipora are of Sopore in Baramulla district last evening by exposing whole population to the threat of Coronavirus. The police said all those who participated in the funeral will be arrested.

A police official told wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that fast track basis investigation in underway and some people who took part in the funeral have been identified and will be arrested shortly.

Police in a statement issued to KNO said that it has started investigations and subsequent identification of those who participated in the funeral of killed militant in Saidpora yesterday (Wednesday Evening).

As per top police official the matter is being investigated on fast track basis and some of the participants who flayed government directions and took part in funeral procession have been identified through pictures/ videos circulated on social media and will be arrested shortly.

It said that the participation in funeral procession of the slain militant in such numbers not only violates the set guidelines issued by the government in wake of Covid-19 but also exposes the entire population in the area to the pandemic.

Meanwhile, police said that the lockdown in the Sopore has also been intensified and people have been requested not to venture out in any circumstances barring medical exigencies—(KNO)
