COVID-19 PANDEMIC :15 more deaths; cases cross 19K mark in J&K

With 15 more coronavirus deaths — one from Jammu and 14 from the Kashmir valley— the death toll in J&K has gone up to 348 in the past 24 hours. As many as 540 new positive cases were reported from J&K and 437 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals from across the UT.

Among 540 new positive cases, 67 were travellers. Around 151 positive cases were reported from Kashmir and 389 from Jammu, thus taking the total Covid count in J&K to 19,419.

Moreover, they said, 437 more Covid patients had recovered and been discharged from various hospitals —70 patients were from Jammu and 367 from the Kashmir division.

A 79-year-old man from Talab Tillo on the outskirts of Jammu city, who was admitted to the Chest Diseases Hospital on Monday after testing positive for the virus and referred to the GMC, Jammu, died on Tuesday evening. He was suffering from respiratory distress. He was put on oxygen and ventilator.

With one more death, the toll has gone up to 25 in Jammu province. The Jammu district has the highest number of 16 casualties followed by two each in Rajouri and Doda and one each in Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Samba and Poonch.
