8 new deaths take J&K’s toll near 700

JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Three persons from Jammu region and five from Kashmir division were among eight people who died in Jammu and Kashmir due to Covid-19 on Saturday, pushing the total number of fatalities due to the deadly virus in union territory to 691, even as 546 more people tested positive for Coronavirus, taking the overall tally of infections over 36-thousand mark, settling at 36377.
Of the fresh Covid-19 cases, 214 were reported in Jammu region and 332 in Kashmir division while as many as 648 patients were discharged from the hospitals following their treatment—119 in Jammu and 529 in Kashmir. With this the recoveries settled at 28020, while actives now stand at 7672.
The deaths related to covid-19 rose to 691 in Jammu and Kashmir after eight fresh fatalities reported in last 24 hours—three in Jammu and 5 in Valley.
Three more deaths occurred in three different districts of Jammu region, taking the total number of fatalities here to 60.
The deceased included a 68-year-old male patient from Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu, a 65-year-old woman from Mendhar in Poonch and a 65-year-old woman from Bhaderwah in Doda.
“The patient from Jammu died at GMC Jammu while the Poonch woman breathed her last at a hospital in Chandigarh. The third patient died at Bhaderwah,” said an official.

The Valley deceased included a 41-year-old woman from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar, a 65-year-old-woman from Kanipora Budgam, a 56-year-old man from Shaikh Zoo Ganderbal, a 75-year-old man from Khangund Tral and a 75-year-old man from Mandoora Tral.
An official from SKIMS Soura said that a patient from Alamgari Bazar Srinagar who was admitted on 19 August died on Saturday. An official from CD hospital said that a patient from Kanipora Budgam who was admitted on 14 August died on Saturday.
An official from SMHS said that a patient from Ganderbal who was admitted with Chronic Kidney Disease died on Saturday and was tested positive through Rapid Antigen Test.
An official from Tral said a patient from Khangund Tral who was admitted a few days before and kept in administrative quarantine died on Friday while a patient from Mandoora Tral who was also in quarantine died on Saturday.
With eight more deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 691 including 631 from Kashmir division and 60 from Jammu division.
There was no let up in the number of new cases, with Jammu and Kashmir recording 546 cases on Saturday, taking the infections tally to 36377. 332 of them were recorded in Valley while Jammu region also recorded 214 cases.
