Mahesh Bhatt was returning to the director’s seat with Sadak 2. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Pooja Bhatt in pivotal roles. The film went on to be labelled as one of the most anticipated films of the year as it marks the sequel to the filmmaker’s hit film, Sadak. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the film released on an online streaming platform two days ago. The film has been receiving negative reviews with netizens and critics.
The film’s trailer went on to become the most disliked trailer on Youtube and following the film’s release, Sadak 2 has now been labelled as the ‘worst-rated’ film on IMDb. The film’s rating was 1.1 which has now further dropped to 1.0. Sadak 2 comes second to a 2015 Turkish film, Code Name: K.O.Z that has received a 1.5 rating. Angry users went on to comment on the post to write, ‘intolerable,’ ‘is this movie a Joke or what!!!’ among other comments.
Mahesh and Alia have been in the limelight post Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. The actor passed away on June 14 and the two of them have been dragged into the controversy surrounding his demise in the insider v/s outsider debate. Moreover, an old clip of Alia choosing to ‘kill’ Sushant during the Rapid Fire round in Koffee With Karan has also been a reason for all the negative buzz around the actress.
Speaking of Sadak 2, the film revolves around Ravi’s depression upon losing his wife. He goes on to help a young girl, Aarya who is on a quest to expose a fake guru running an ashram.
Via Pooja’s account, Mahesh had earlier shared a message for the audience before the release. He said, “Today as we begin the last leg of our journey.I feel unshackled! I carry no burden, no weight. No reputation to hold on to. No mission to accomplish. Nothing to prove to anyone. If the film works it belongs to all of you. If it does not, it’s mine”
