J-K Police nabs two persons in Poonch district, recovers ammunition including IED

Security forces today arrested two overground workers (OGWs) and recovered huge quantity of arms and ammunition while busting a terror module in the Mendhar area of Poonch district.

The consignment of arms and ammunition was sent to Poonch from Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK).

“On a specific input, a joint operation by the Army, Mendhar police and SOG (Special Operation Group), Jammu, was launched to intercept the couriers of arms, ammunitions and explosives along with other material used for subversive activities,” a senior police officer said.

The officer said various teams of security forces were deputed to intercept the couriers of the material along with the arms, ammunitions, explosives and other material to be used in subversive activities.

“The material was supposed to be carried from a forward area to hinterland for subversive activities,” the officer said.

He said they apprehended the two accused and recovered arms and ammunition recovered from them. “Further interrogation is in progress. The consignment was sent from PoJK,” the officer added.

He said they recovered three Chinese pistols, six pistol magazines, 70 pistol rounds, 11 hand grenades, wireless set, improvised explosive device (IED), two batteries, two flags, mobile phone, charger, pen drive and other related material to IED.
