*Former Legislator Ishfaq Jabbar calls on Div Com*
*Raised issue of construction and local employment in CUK , Z Morh and Zojila Tunnel*
Srinagar 26 Sep: Srinagar:Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Former Member J&K Legislative Assembly from Ganderbal, called on Div Com Kashmir, Shri P K Pole at Div Com Office here in Srinagar today and apprised him about the progress, functioning and other issues of CUK.
In a statement issued Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Senior Leader and Ex-Member J&K Legislative Assembly from Ganderbal, said that he today raised the issue of Central University of Kashmir with Div Com Kashmir and said that the CUK campus presently working in different accommodations needs to be taken up on war footing basis, besides the construction work at the identified site needs to be taken up on priority basis and be shifted to the designated place at Tullamulla.
During the meeting Ishfaq express his concerns regarding the shifting of CUK campus to designated site and the delay has also caused large scale apprehensions among the people, resulted in lapse of hundreds of crores of funds meant for development of basic infrastructure at the allotted land at Tulamulla.
Ishfaq demanded to conduct regular classes in pre-fabricated huts located at Tulamulla site.
*“I requested Div Com Kashmir for employment for land owners of Barsoo, Kurahama and Tullamulla who have donated their land”. I also requested him to raise the quota (reserve seats)from 1 seat to 2 seats per courses/ program for the students of district Ganderbal, Ishfaq added*.
He also raised issue of Z Morh tunnel and demands local employment in Z Morh tunnel.
Regarding issues pertaining to CUK, Div Com Kashmir assured me that he will seek report from Vice Chancellor CUK and Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, and with regard to the local employment in Z Mohr and Zojila tunnels Div Com writes to Project Director NHIDCL Kashmir with the direction to look into the matter favorably.
Div Com Kashmir extended his full support to shift the varsity to the originally designated area and said that I am personally monitoring the project and will visit the designated site in coming days, the work on the designated sight will be expedited and the university will be shifted at the designated place, the statement further added.
