Son of soil appointed Additional Advocate General by UP Govt

JAMMU: The Yogi Adityanath Government in Uttar Pradesh (UP) has appointed son of the soil advocate Sharan Dev Singh Thakur as its Additional Advocate General to represent the state in the Supreme Court, official sources said.

Thakur, who is the son of former Chief Justice of India, TS Thakur and grandson of former DyCM of J&K DD Thakur, is one of the youngest to hold the said post. He is a Law graduate from Bangalore University and hold an LLM from the University of Warwick, UK.

Thakur fills up the vacancy created by Ashwariya Bhatti who was recently appointed as Additional Solicitor General in the Supreme Court to represent the Union of India.

With this appointment, the state of UP will be represented by two Additional Advocates General in the apex court.
