Republic Day arrangements finalized at Shopian
SHOPIAN, JANUARY 12: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin today convened a meeting of concerned officers to finalise arrangements for smooth celebration of Republic Day function here.
The DC informed that the main function of the national event will start with Shahnai Vadan at 9:00 am at District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian, where the National Flag will be hoisted and the VIP will take salute on the March Past.
It was informed that the March Past shall comprise of the contingents of Police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, Fire and Emergency Services, Youth Services & Sports, Students of various educational institutions and special cultural programs will also be presented during the function.
The DC on the occasion directed all district heads to ensure adherence to Covid-19 guidelines by maintaining prescribed spacing in seating arrangements for the participants during the event.
Various other necessary arrangements were also discussed in the meeting including security plan, drinking water facility, cleanliness and sanitation, seating arrangement, traffic management and power supply besides others at the venue.
The DC directed the R&B Department, Mechanical Engineering and Municipality to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of the DPL ground. They were also directed to keep manpower available in case of snowfall on both days of rehearsal and main function.
The PDD and PHE departments were directed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply besides the Health department was ordered to deploy doctors and paramedics along with Ambulance and first aid at the venue.
It was also revealed that the Republic Day rehearsal will be held on January 24, 2021.
Among others the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Ab Aziz, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers of PWD (R&B), PHE, and PDD, besides other district and sector level officers and officials.
